Quentin Tarantino says Marvel actors aren’t stars
Sooo…don’t expect Quentin Tarantino instruct marvel Movies anytime soon.
It doesn’t mean you have. Tarantino has only made original films, with very few exceptions. (Jackie Brown It was based on the novel by Elmore Leonard. That’s his only adaptation to date.) But if you’re curious about Tarantino’s feelings about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’ll find them in a new episode of Marvel Cinematic Universe. 2 bears, 1 cave Podcast with Tom Segura.
Tarantino has openly admitted that he collected comics as a child and that he doesn’t “hate” Marvel movies. (via mediate) but he also said, “They’re the only ones that seem to have been made. I like it even for the studios that are there. That’s what they’re excited about.”
He’s also been pretty harsh on Marvel’s stars, claiming they’re not movie stars. As he said…
Part of the Marvelization of Hollywood is… all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they are not movie stars. right? The main character is Captain America. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first to say that. I’m sure it’s been said a million times, but it’s like these franchise characters that become stars.
Whether or not a Marvel star is a true star is a subjective matter, and certainly some of these actors are more famous than others. I doubt if you would argue otherwise.)
At least one Marvel hero has already intervened in Tarantino’s comments. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Wheels Star Shim Liu posted on Twitter, “If Tarantino and Scorsese were the only gatekeepers to movie stardom, they wouldn’t have had the chance to lead a $400 million-plus movie.”
The new Tarantino cinema speculation, is on sale now.Watch Tarantine’s video here 2 bears, 1 cave under.
