A page in Friday’s letter asks readers whether it’s worth buying a Switch again this year, as readers urge Sony to give up on buying Activision.

power ups
in a story about nintendo switch 2 is escalating every day and we have to wonder what difference it would make if it was truly as powerful as the PlayStation 4.most of us, the next generation game It doesn’t look much different than the previous generation. Heck, there are very few games dedicated to next-gen, so in theory, the Switch 2 should be able to run the likes of Horizon Forbidden West and God Of War Ragnarok.

At this stage of looking into consoles, I can’t imagine the specs being overstated all the time, but if it’s anywhere near that, it suddenly expands the scope of what Nintendo can do. game? A Mario game like Ratchet and Clank? A Metroid game like Dead Space? I mean, it sounds great.

So why would someone who is totally uninterested in Switches right now be attracted to such a powerful Switch? And how powerful is it not to mean that you are not interested at all?

PS: What are Game Freak going to do with that power?

name only
i really can’t see any problem EA Sports FC As successful as FIFA. It might be a little low at first, but I’m sure it will catch up quickly after that. Plus, you don’t have to pay for FIFA’s name, so don’t worry about EA because it’s still ahead.

As GC said, I don’t think the first game will be too different from FIFA 24. That said, you can use the excuse of starting from scratch for years, so I think it’s actually going to be pretty daunting. Although not at all.

EA can certainly put up a decent competition, but I doubt it comes from FIFA, which has absolutely no idea how to make a video game. Giving them free reign might work, but this whole situation happened because they wanted more control, so I don’t think it’s happening. I do not think so.

Different world
All these video game movies come out of woodwork…it’s just madness. We had, what? A couple of video game movies, no big hits, no problem. The Last of Us was certainly massive, but it was a TV show and based on a game better than most other leagues in terms of storytelling – definitely Sonic the Hedgehog!

Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Minecraft are not only not in the same league, they hardly seem to be the same art form. It’s not a criticism on either side, it’s just pointing out how stupid Hollywood producers are.

Some argue it doesn’t matter, but with two bad Mario movies, it feels like the whole brand is undermined. , it’s also terrible.

let go
I wonder what kind of relationship Sony will have with Activision after all this nonsense is over. It seems pretty clear that the deal will come through, so shouldn’t Sony try to soften up the rhetoric and let it go?

If Microsoft (or Sony) thought they could lie and make a penny of profit, I doubt they would give me a name, but it’s just a big company. Sony needs to go back and figure out how to make some kind of Call Of Duty killer. Especially now as his Bungie.

With Battlefield gone, someone feels there’s plenty of room to make a new, less serious military shooter, and now Sony has all the reasons to make one. Must. They will bet all their chips on Last Of Us multiplayer games. Call Of Duty can be edgy, but it’s never dark.

toss a coin
As a Wii U owner, I was able to play most of the Nintendo games I was interested in, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros., on the Wii U, so I put the Switch on hold. Did. , Splatoon, etc. My plan was to wait for the Switch Pro or the Breath of the Wild follow-up to make the jump to Switch.

Tears of the Kingdom was announced, so I pre-ordered the Switch OLED Tears of the Kingdom Special Edition with matching case. But recent rumors of a Switch 2 release this year have me having second thoughts. Helping a losing horse twice in a row? What does the GC think? Should we cancel the order and postpone it a little longer? On the other hand, if the rumor turns out to be false, we may miss out on the poor special edition.

GC: There are some compelling rumors suggesting this year, but so far no evidence. But it’s close to 50/50, and if not this year, it will almost certainly be in 2024.

practical footwear
Another thing I wanted to bring up about Resident Evil 4 Remake is that Ashley now looks like a real person you see on the street. Instead of a cosplayer dressed as Ashley Graham. What I’ve never seen anyone wear in real life were the weird folding boots she wore. It looked…

She’s not as impractical as Miss Wong, but those block heels look taller than Cubans to me. Her heels don’t cut into her shoulders, but she still looks cramped. For both parties!

She also doesn’t need to catch as much and jumps from certain heights. Either you need to fortify or you need to navigate this rough and muddy terrain. She wore high heels in the sewers too, remember! It makes her a force to be reckoned with…

Then I heard the merchant say the funniest thing I’ve ever heard about a game. I hope this is no spoilers, but he said: terrible. But great.

angry on the internet
I think it’s the worst when I hear things like Resident Evil 4 review bombing My first thought is to dismiss it as “just a child”. They’re people who know and care about the original Resident Evil 4, so all or most will be at least in their thirties.

The idea that some tragic 30-something is sitting there typing furiously on a keyboard about Leon no longer looking up at Ashley’s skirt is very depressing. what do they want? Will there be some kind of pest DLC to restore the line on Ashley’s ballistics?

hardware hearsay
A delightful range of new hardware rumors circulating this week. With the Switch 2, it seems there are a lot of the same rumors. That’s the power of the PlayStation 4, which will launch somewhere after that, but probably including “Christmas 2023″….that’s not commendable. Everyone thinks so. Even the model of Nvidia chip used is fairly common knowledge at this point, with only edge details (such as how it achieves 4K upscaling) being unknown.

The PlayStation 4 output is a great upgrade to the current Switch and should allow Nintendo to show a notable generational leap in first-party titles. The magic of 3D Mario (probably Kurt) at Ratchet & Clank level fidelity would certainly make for a killer launch app. Given how far ahead Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation machines are, and how resource-intensive modern game development is, you’d be worried about third-party support. If you need Series S and Steam Deck development, it might help.

A portable streaming PlayStation seems like an odd idea for Sony when everyone has a big smartphone or iPad. Perhaps it’s about hardware and software integration that makes for a much more stable and responsive experience than just a software portal on Android or iOS? I love my Switch because it treats games more like reading a book than watching a movie. That’s why I prefer mobile games at home, which is a niche case.

Also, do you know why Sony is leaning towards this “halo product” strategy, PlayStation VR2 and now “Q Lite”? In some cases, will PlayStation VR2 create the PlayStation brand? felt Cutting edge even if it doesn’t sell? I think you’ve provided Sony with a lot of hardware and software experience that’s at least useful. So this Q device could do the same for cloud streaming integration.

GC: Rumor has it that it’s for remote play, and now they’re pushing it anew.

Run Inbox too
So Sony believes Microsoft will release a buggy and incomplete version of Call of Duty to encourage players to buy an Xbox. Does this explain the lackluster nature of their PC port these days?
DarKerR (gamertag)/DarKerR-UK (PSN ID)

GC: Did you have to pluralize the port? You know it’s the only one.

A new arcade opens in Belfast on May 13th. baseI will not be attending that weekend. Because it’s Zelda. But if your readers are interested, do you always write a feature article for them right after?

GC: please!

hot topic of the week
This weekend’s inbox theme was suggested by reader Gamgee, who asked what is your favorite non-violent video game?

Games that don’t require you to hurt or kill someone are more common than they used to be, but they’re still pretty rare. Which is your favorite? Violence of all kinds is important, whether it’s cartoon or gory, but what’s your favorite game where everyone lives?

Is that what drew you to the game, or weren’t you sure it was fun until you tried it? How much does in-game violence affect what you play? What non-violent games would you like to see more prominence?
