John M. Chu premieres witches from ‘Wicked’ movie

Meet the wonderful new Witch of Oz.

directed by John M. Chu Shared the star’s first official look at his upcoming adaptation Evilis L. Frank Baum’s Oz novel. The caption of his first Instagram post read, “You haven’t been told the whole story. What happens when you’re off Yellow Brick Road? First look at #WickedMovie… currently in production in Oz.”

The second post reads, “Green & Pink. Always start with green and pink. #WickedMovie Coming to you in 2024. “

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The film also stars Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang. (Goldblum plays the Wizard of Oz.)

Elphaba and Glinda’s rumored names included Lea Michele and Amy Adams, among others. After Chu was hired to direct and Erivo and Grande were selected for two key roles, it took until 2021 for the film to finally become firmly established.

Evil Originally scheduled for a Christmas 2024 release, it was recently moved up a month and is now set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024. Follow the story and come to a conclusion the following year.
