SALAAM VENKY is the story of the human right to die. Venkatesh Krishnan aka Venky (Vishal Jethwa) he is 24 years old and suffers from DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). This is a degenerative disease in which muscles stop working one by one as he ages.In modern times, Venky is no longer…On a walk, I am wheelchair bound. Her mother Sujata (Kajol) is a single parent and she has taken care of Venky alone. When he was at home, suddenly his condition became serious. He is rushed to hospital, where Dr. Shekhar (Rajeev Khandelwal), who has been treating him for years, realizes that Venky’s end is near. Even Venky realizes it and he asks his mother to grant his last wish: he wants to go euthanasia and donate organs to those in need. If he died of natural causes, some of his organs would not be worth donating. Sujata clearly opposes his plan because as her mother, she cannot agree with this idea, but soon Sujata realizes that Venky’s proposal has merit. She agrees and decides to go to court, seeking a mercy killing for her child. However, euthanasia is illegal in India and can be a lengthy legal battle. What happens next forms the rest of the movie.
