Going Mobile
Esports is an industry with a lot of clout. Experts estimate that the industry will generate up to 2 billion USD in revenue this year alone, with projections up to 2026 reaching as high as 3,14 billion USD. It’s clear that this is an industry where you cannot only make a lot of money but also have a lot of fun- if you’re playing the right games, that is. Your cellphone is good for many things: catching up on the news, taking calls, and now finally for playing virtual sports as well. Gone are the days when you had to plop down behind a desktop PC or even lug your laptop with you wherever you go to have access to your favorite games. These days you can play esports games on your Android device wherever you are!
We’ve compiled a list of the best mobile esports games that you’ll be able to play on Android this year. We’re definitely going to try them all, how about you?
Arena of Valor
Kicking off the list is this exciting MOBA. Arena of Valor is pretty similar to League of Legends in that it’s a five versus five game. This game, brought to us by Tencent, isn’t the first one with which the company has had success- they’re building quite a name for themselves! There have already been a few tournaments held for this game, and you can expect to see more coming this year. Arena of Valor has a play score of 7.8.
Mobile Legends
Arena of Valor has had most of its success in the west, while Mobile Legends has been taking over in the East. There’s been some controversy surrounding the title: Moonton was even sued for plagiarism by Riot Games as the name was so similar to their title League of Legends. While this game hasn’t taken over the western world quite yet, and we doubt it will, the game has a massive influence on its fans, and that shouldn’t be understated. Tournaments have appeared in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and even in some places in Europe. Mobile Legends has a play score of 7.87.
Shadowverse CCG
Look out, Hearthstone; Shadowverse is hot on your heels! Shadowverse is a true collectible card game, and it doesn’t skimp on the free-to-play aspects either; this means that if you’re just starting out, you’ll have the chance of getting the same cards that anyone else does! There are some exciting anime characters in the game, and it’s catching on fast, particularly in Europe and Asia. Shadowverse has a play score of 7.91.
Summoners War: Sky Arena
While this game initially had a lot of people doubting its viability in the esports world, it’s slowly but surely proving all the doubters wrong as it climbs its way to the forefront of many mobile contests. We’ve seen Summoners War World Arena Championships played in Europe, America, and Asia so far: where will be next? What sets this title apart is how players get to build up their monster army in a MOBA format while watching out for which of your soldiers might be banned by your opponent. It’s a game of strategy, and it’s exciting to watch as well as play. Summoners War: Sky Arena has a play score of 8.16.
PUBG Mobile
There’s not a gamer alive today who doesn’t know about PUBG, and now you can play it on your Android device! This title has been going strong for a long time. While there has been some criticism in the past about bugs and mobile quirks, fans are clearly happy with the overall experience. PUBG has been the go-to for battle royale fans for years now, and the mobile version is very similar to the experience you’d have when playing on a PC. The prize pool for mobile tournaments currently runs in the high tens of thousands, and it’s only getting bigger! PUBG mobile has a play score of 8.25.
Clash Royale
Supercell was wise to try to duplicate their success with Clash of Clans, and boy did it pay off. Clash Royale mobile debuted with a prize pool of a million dollars; if the gameplay didn’t get fans interested, that certainly did! As it stands, many teams are vying for the top spot, and they’re all in it to win it. Clash Royale has a play score of 8.41.
Clash of Clans
The OG from Supercell is still going strong! The Clan War Leagues are now played in a five versus five format, and the prize pool is enormous: half a million enormous. While the prize pool is lower than in Clash Royale, many fans are extremely loyal to this game, and we can expect to see that amount grow before long. Whether you’re playing competitively or just for fun, Clash of Clans will keep you entertained for hours on end. Clash of Clans has a play score of 8.86- our highest.
